The people of eGrain, Inc. continually strive to improve the efficiency and profitability of the agriculture industry through the use of electronic documents. Located in Springfield, Illinois, eGrain was approved by the USDA – Farm Service Agency on June 1, 2005 to establish and maintain a central filing system for the purpose of electronically filing grain and rice warehouse receipts and other United States Warehouse Act (USWA) documents under agreement number 19-12. The eGrainsm System is a highly secure and powerful web-based central filing system that is easy to use and accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
eGrain was the first USDA approved provider of electronic warehouse receipts (EWRs) for grain and rice in the United States. In addition, eGrain has worked with several state agencies throughout the country and currently offers electronic price later and credit sales contracts in many states. In the United States, EWRs are authorized by federal law and represent title documents which make them legally equivalent in every way to paper warehouse receipts. Many businesses involved in the grain industry are utilizing our electronic documents and realizing many benefits, including improved efficiency and reduced costs. These electronic documents can move through the system as fast as trading activities and money transfers, making them ideal for securing grain positions in today’s environment. The eGrainsm System is innovative in its design and was granted a U.S. Patent for its method and system for managing commodity transactions.
eGrain works hard to be the global leader in electronic warehouse receipts and is constantly evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of the agriculture industry. Over 821 million bushels were receipted on the eGrainsm System in 2012, representing billions of dollars in commodities.
eGrain takes great pride in providing efficient, reliable and secure electronic warehouse receipt systems that meet the various needs of individual countries, governments, regulatory agencies and commodity exchanges. eGrain operates as a neutral third party in a confidential and secure fashion, and is independent of any outside influence or bias in action or appearance. In addition, eGrain ensures that all data is secure, not changed inappropriately and only accessible by authorized parties.
eGrain has worked very closely with the USDA to develop the requirements and database design elements of the grain and rice electronic warehouse receipt system operating in the United States. Our employees’ expertise in designing, implementing, and operating electronic warehouse receipt systems has greatly benefited the companies that rely on warehouse receipts in their day-to-day business activities. Our existing infrastructure can be customized to handle additional commodities and accommodate other segments within the agriculture industry.
